Reminiscing for the Nostalgic

"The world is full of people whose notion of a satisfactory future is, in fact, a return to the idealized past." - Robertson Davies, A Voice from the Attic

I'm Kelly; lover of the 1940s, Gene Kelly, and Jesus. This blog is devoted to early 20th Century history, period dramas, Doctor Who, and my sexy French lover, Jean Dujardin.

endless list of movies pleasantville (1998)

"People change?"

"Yeah, people change."

"Can they change back?"

"I don’t know. I think it’s harder."

One of my all-time favorites, something like a modern Wizard of Oz.  I owe this another watch.

This is the first movie I distinctly remember wanting to jump into. It probably had something to do with people jumping into their TV……and, you know, the nice 1950s-esque lifestyle.

Reblog with the title of the film that got you into old movies.

Meet Me in St. Louis

How appropriate that yours would star Judy and mine, Singin’ in the Rain, would star Gene.

George Clooney should play Cary Grant in a movie, and Jean Dujardin should play Gene Kelly in a movie.  Can someone make that happen please?

I’ve shared before that I have mixed feelings about these movies, but I do have to say these are four delicious men.

How many more days do I have to wait already? I’m so in love with this film, and I haven’t even watched it yet.
(Warning: Be prepared for major spamming for The Artist and Jean Dujardin in the next few months.)

Same here. The anticipation has been building for so long, that I already feel like I know it well. I hope the film lives up to my expectations (I’m sure it will). I’ve watched two of Jean’s films and have become a fan of his in the process. Please, Mr. Dujardin, don’t cut your new ties with Hollywood; I’d like to see how you both can benefit from one another. And I’m wishing you and this awesome film luck when the Oscars roll around!

I was going to do something really cool with this, but Photoshop is acting a fool and won’t let me use the extract filter.  Then I decided I liked it this way.  Perhaps they’re watching the classic Polar Bears in a Snowstorm.

The blank screen leaves it open to the imagination, which is far more interesting than having another image inserted into it.
