It’s with these type of photos that I sometimes wish I could insert Gene into today’s world just for the reason of clear, candid photos. There aren’t enough of them, you know? I love these little treasures, but they’re too often tiny and grainy.
And I almost always love Gene with a little stubble.

Betsy Blair and Gene Kelly
I always love the sailor outfits, but I kind of wish he wasn’t wearing the hat here. I’d like to have seen his military haircut.
Don’t think I’ve seen either of these Gene photos on tumblr yet, I had to dig through all of the pictures I saved of Gene when I first became a fan seven or eight years ago. I had found them on a fan site that I can’t seem to find anymore, a pity. But hopefully others can enjoy them if they haven’t already made their way around tumblr!

I didn’t know there were more from that particular shoot. I know that second one occurred at the same time as the photo on the cover of Betsy’s book.
